October 15th, 2008 (#097 Watch the entire sopranos tv series)

Finished off the sopranos. I liked the ending that most people didn't. Great show. I definitely swore a lot more when i watched it.

July 17th, 2008 (#011 Get a Dog)

New house? New dog. Sure, why not. His name's Dexter, he's a sheltie, and is almost 7 weeks old. So far he's peeing outside about 70% of the time, which isn't too bad i guess? Patience is a virtue. He liked the cats, and running into the stove, and sleeping.

July 12th, 2008 (#079 Go Swimming)
Haven't been swimming in years. We went to a beach in Grand Bay with a couple tall boys and a couple mudslides and drank and swam. Good day. I'm not that great of a swimmer.comments 0
June 27th, 2008 (#003 Buy A House)

This was a big one, probably the biggest and most important on the list for me. Not paying rent for the first time in 7 years, and actually owning my own home feels pretty great. I've got my own lawn, front & back decks and an ocean view. Perfect starter home for us, cheaper than the rent we were paying. We'll be camped out here a couple years while we finish paying off our student loans.

June 21, 2008 (#099 Go to the Drive-in Theatre)
As Much as we complain around here (Saint John) about not having anything to do, we are at the same time pretty lucky to have a few things to do. One of those is the drive-in movie theatre. There's 3 in new brunswick, and we live about 45 minutes from one.We stopped at the Irving for snacks and subway for supper, and headed to Sussex. Ticket prices were $8 per adult, for 2 movies. That's $16 vs $44 it would've cost for the same thing at empire theatres. We sacrificed the high quality surround sound I suppose which is important to some people, but with that kind of savings, we can go without.
The other big downside to the drive-in experience was the person directly behind us who kept turning their truck on and by association their headlights, flooding the entire car with light, and the whole bottom half of the movie screen. It was pretty annoying.
Anyway, we saw the incredible hulk first, then baby mama. The Hulk was good, much better than the last one that came out, which was pretty boring in my opinion. Baby mama was a comedy type thing, which was ok enough, but didn't really do much for me. Tina Fey had some pretty funny lines though.
Good times, the end.

May 18, 2008 (#096 Watch 5 Movies in One Day)
So we went for it yesterday and watched five movies in one day, which isn't that huge of a deal, but we started late in the evening and got finished around 4 am.
our movies were:
01: Reservation Road: A father tries to track down the person who hit and ran, killing his son. A pretty ok movie, good acting and some pretty intense scenes between the two leads.
02: Spiral: A look into an awkward telemarketer's life as he interacts with women and struggles with his personal demons. Pretty great movie, probably my favorite of the 5 we watched. Good acting, good ending.
03: Semi-pro: We decided to break up the marathon with this mindless will ferrell comedy. There's a few good laughs in here, mostly (for me) provided by will ferrell's character freaking out and swearing a lot.
04: How To Rob A Bank: A twenty something tired of ATM surcharges goes to the bank to withdraw his $20, and gets swept up in a bank heist. It's an interesting enough concept, but the movie suffers from bad acting, and some poor directing decisions. Probably my least favorite of the 5.
05: The Mist: The day following a wild hurricane, a group of townspeople bunker down in the local supermarket as a thick mist covers the town, and brings a whole slew of creatures with it. The best thing about this movie is the relationships between the people in the store, the insane religious preacher lady, and the controversy that comes from that. The ending was.. interesting, but didn't do much for me.

May 16, 2008 (#092 See Leonard Cohen in Concert)
We drove to Hali to see Mr. Cohen, which proved to be a near religious experience.
Leonard is nothing but a complete class act and an amazing performer.
Definitely one of Canada's living legends.

a couple days later it was ravaged by raccoons,
and knocked off the deck by the wind.
worth it.

made it back from Cambridge, MA.I'm tired and getting sick, but it was worth it.
Stayed with friends and family that were ridiculously hospitable,
and The Mountain Goats were unbelievably good.
Definitely one of the things on my list i was looking forward to the most.
edit: Here's some pics from the show, taken by Jess Levy:

February 22, 2008 (#029 Lose the Wisdom Teeth)
when i made this list it started out as 101 things I wanted to do. Finishing up the list though I added this one because it was a big deal for me. I'd never had surgery (general anesthetic) before.I'm proud of myself for going through with it, even though I was counting light fixtures on the way to the surgery room.
nurse during pre-assesment: are you on any medication for pain?
me: no, not yet.
nurse in recovery room: on a scale of 1 to 10 where would you put the pain?
me: uh about a twenty seven.
anyway it's over and done with.
excellent.

February 18, 2008 (#078 Go Public Skating)
Me and the wife finally bought some skates, and hit the ice this Saturday. After having not skated for about 6 years. It was great, it took a lap or two to get back into it, but it's just like riding a bike, you never forget. Had a lot of fun, and apparently public skating at the rink near my house is free? Excellent.comments 0
February 3, 2008 (#030 Celebrate Groundhog Day)

Having really good friends, made this one pretty easy. Getting a call with plans to celebrate Groundhog day on my account was pretty great. We watched groundhog day and drank every time Bill woke up to a new day. (turns out this happens a lot.)

February 2, 2008 (#030 One month without drinking beer)
I've done it! One month without beer. I've learned a few things: I don't miss beer at shows and restaurants, it's just not worth the extra money, maybe one beer with my meal, but that's it, no need to double the bill.Beer is really delicious, and I plan on keeping it to weekends only and keeping it cut back from where i was before Christmas, but cutting it out altogether is unnecessary (for me) and i'm glad it's back.

We saw hayden in sackville last night. It was long over due, and just like i hoped it would be for the last 10 or so years. He's a great musician and performer, and if you get the chance, check him out. Some pics to follow!comments 0
